Invite the Divorce-Busting Angel to Your Marriage
Invite the Divorce-Busting Angel to Your Marriage "And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit." - Matthew 1:19–20 (ESV) Today, I want to talk to you about a ministry team that sometimes goes completely ignored and unnoticed, but I believe is biblically relevant for those standing for their marriage. I grew up in a traditional church denomination, and in all my years of going to church, we only talked about this specific ministry twice a year — at Christmas and Easter. What ministry am I referring to? The ministry of angels. Besides that, they were never mentioned in church. It’s quite astonishing, considering how prevalent angels are in the Bible. They are far from background characters, and they play crucial roles in God’s divine plan. As you stand for the restoration of your marriage, it’s essential not to overlook these “ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation.“ (Hebrews 1:14) Matthew 1:19–20 tells us of a moment when an angel was sent with a specific purpose — to cancel a divorce! Yes, you heard me right. An angel was sent from heaven with the sole assignment of SAVING A MARRIAGE! Today is not a deep dive into angels, but I firmly believe that God assigns angels with specific missions. I always just assumed this angel was Gabriel, but the Scriptures don’t reveal the angel’s name; in this case, it just says “an Angel of the Lord.” I believe there’s likely an “angel of marriage restoration” whose task is to bust up divorces and mend broken marriages. Let’s take a look at this passage. First, look at the angel’s words to Joseph: “Do not be afraid.” (Matthew 1:20). Fear of taking Mary as his wife was part of Joseph’s reason to divorce her; I am sure the enemy is using a spirit of fear to play a role in your spouse separating from you. Today, pray that the divorce-busting angel will deliver that same message to your spouse, reassuring them that they need not fear returning to the marriage. Pray for a divine angelic visitation to come and calm their anxieties and concerns, convincing them that every issue in your marriage can be healed through God’s power. Second, consider the angel’s revelation to Joseph that what Mary carried was from the Holy Spirit. The angel wanted Joseph to know that God was involved and that it was His Spirit who conceived the baby inside Mary. God was saying He was a part of their marriage even though it seemed impossible in the natural. Do you need God to come and show your spouse that He is indeed involved in your family and that your marriage was conceived by Him? Pray that the same angel will convey to your spouse that the restoration stirring in your heart is also inspired by the Holy Spirit. May your spouse recognize that your desire for marital healing aligns with God’s will and is infused with His divine power. Remember that these angelic beings are here to minister to you as you stand for your marriage. They are messengers of God’s will, agents of His divine intervention, and instruments of His grace. Don’t hesitate to invite them into your journey of marital restoration. Today, I want you to embrace the reality that angels are active participants in God’s story, working to fulfill His plans. Their presence in the Bible signifies their importance in our lives. Just as the angel was sent to prevent Joseph from divorcing Mary, believe that God can send His angels to intervene in your marriage, turning it from the brink of divorce to a path of restoration. So, let’s pray and ask God to dispatch the same “divorce-busting angel” who visited Joseph to appear to your spouse with a message of hope and reconciliation. I believe God is releasing His angelic armies to fight on your behalf. Today, I want you to believe that your spouse is going to be visited by the angel armies of God. We already have an example of one marriage being saved because of the message of an angel, so why not ask God to make yours another one
